Your body after a baby is such a foreign thing. Even if you wait to do pictures until a month or so after your baby is born, chances are your body will still be very different from your body before you had a baby. I’m talking about achey boobs, pain sitting, and just feeling overall a tiny bit more like a zombie than a human.

I think about how much I ached and yearned for him when I thought he might not be at all. I think about how a giggle from him, the arch of an eyebrow, can undo me completely

Newborn Session: What to Dress the Baby In

You know I love color. I mean, I LOVE color. But neutrals have their place. One place is in a newborn session. New babies are so tiny, often a bit scrawny, and need to be documented in all of their blotchy glory.

Branding Sessions are FUN

I will admit it. I need new photos for my website and brand pretty badly. I have family photos, but I need some “headshots.” When I say headshots, what I am looking for is something that really shows my personality, my style, what I am bringing to the table. All of us small biz owners have been told so often to put our face out there more. I know that when I share my own face or a pic with Rufus on Instagram, the photos preform much better than usual.

A Seattle Maternity Session at Discovery Park

Due to a few unforeseen events, this maternity session ended up happening after the sun set on Discovery Park in Seattle. Aparna and Sunith are so excited to be parents and it couldn’t be more obvious. They haven’t lived in the Seattle area long (they relocated from India to the Carolinas to New York and now here), so I was worried about the support they would have after the baby arrives- but Sunith’s parents are already here and they will have both sets of parents staying with them for a couple of months.

Is Fog OK for Family Photos?

In a nutshell, YES! If you schedule your family photos during the fall in the PWN, there are several weather conditions you might have to contend with. Overcast days, rain, and in this instance, fog! A foggy day definitely sets a certain tone. It is a bit moody. I like the way it separates the subject a bit from the background. It is like they are in a little world of their own. As a PNW photographer I try to embrace the weather we have. It can’t always be done, but sometimes it works out perfectly.
