FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY DOES NOT NEED TO BE SEASONAL

All around the country, and especially in the PNW, family photography sessions slow way down following the holidays. Babies keep being born, couples get engaged, and bellies swell and so family photography doesn’t completely stop in Seattle, but most photos that are not time sensitive are pushed back until summer or fall. I continue my fine art school photography, work on the back end of my business and wait for busy season. But is this truly necessary? I don’t think so. There are a few factors that tend to make family photos so seasonal and I would love to address them!

First of all, I have to tell you how amazing Jessica is. Her husband contacted me over the winter to see if I could take photos for them. They had just discovered that Jessica’s pregnancy was no longer viable and wanted to document that moment. I had the flu, so my sweet and talented friend Mandie photographed this devastating time for them. When I offered up mother’s day mini sessions I heard from them right away. I was stunned by how strong and incredible Jessica is. She is fully present with her sweet daughter Sofia. Their love was tangible.

Elise was my muse I awkwardly asked to model for me when I started my business, she grew into a client, and really turned into a close friend. She is on the front line of who I call when I start to doubt all of my abilities as a mother. One of the first friends I made outside of my PEPS group, I freakin love her. On top of everything she has a mix of chic and boho style that I adore. Her answers to the motherhood questions are so thoughtful. When she emailed them to me I wrote her back telling her they made me want to slow down and reexamine a few things.
